Now here's a little treat, right outta the blue.
Excellent Online, which bills itself as "the premier home for North American fans of UK Indie music" (and that just may be the case) has selflessly released a completely free, completely downloadable (and completely legal) mp3 compilation called Flirt. A little Valentine's Day present, if you will. All but two of the songs are previously unreleased, and this sucker doesn't just feature a new solo song from Ride's Mark Gardener, but it also heralds the recorded return of Velocity Girl. You read me right. Go get it. It doesn't stop there, though. How about Martin Carr, former Boo Radley? Yup, he's here, recording as Brave Captain. There's some Cinerama, too... although it's the previously released (and super-fantastic) track Your Charms, along with a new song from local popstress Paula Kelley, and a wonderful new one from Of Montreal. Can't wait to dive into this whole thing... lots of bands I'm not yet acquainted with await me. Two cds worth of toonz, along with downloadable artwork for the printin'. Oh my goodness... I just listened to the Velocity Girl song. It's like hanging with an old friend who's doing better than ever. Hell yeah. ![]() |
