I made a pretty big decision this weekend... I am kicking my Diet Coke habit. I was up to three cans a day, minimum, and after a bunch of online research, Aspartame now makes me nervous. There are all sorts of conflicting opinions on the matter, ranging from this one, to this one, and even this one here. There have even been email hoaxes that ruined any credibility of real danger. So what's the truth? I have no idea. But you know what? I don't need Diet Coke. I don't need the caffeine. And if there's a chance Aspartame is bad for me, if it might break down into formaldehyde, and maybe lead to memory loss (of which I get flashes of), depression, insomnia, fatigue, irratibility... well, why not quit? So I'm done.

I paid for my decision on Saturday night with raging caffeine withdrawal headaches... strengthening my resolve. I don't need something I'm physically hooked on... that my body punishes me for when I stop drinking. So long, Diet Coke. We had a good 10 years or so, but it's time to move on.

Janeane Garofalo was hysterically funny on Friday night at the Orpheum, and her opener, Greg Behrendt, was excellent as well. Many laughs were had...

time for some monday morning links...

HBO [SIX FEET UNDER]
Yes, season two starts next Sunday. Such a good show.

Chuck Jones Official Website
Sadly, Chuck Jones is gone... but he left behind so much greatness. I can't even gauge his impact on my childhood. Aside from Bugs, Daffy, and Wile E... he gave us Riki Tiki Tavi, one of my all time favorites. A true super-genius.

Skwurls and more Squirrels
Token squirrel link, just 'cuz.
