Starting tonight in Seattle, lucky locals and long-distance travelers get to be part of record label Suicide Squeeze's 10th Anniversary celebration. A dozen bands over three days at Neumo's, and I sure wish it wasn't on the other side of the country. Hard to believe it's been a decade since I ordered Elliott Smith's "Division Day" 7-inch from 'em, and I've added more than a few SS releases to my collection since. While I can't make the shows, I can celebrate in my own way by listening to yet another great Suicide Squeeze release, the new "Slaying Since 1996" double-disc 10th Anniversarycompilation. New songs, old songs, rare songs, unreleased songs, previously-vinyl-only songs from a tons of SS-associated artists. It's a varied little treasure trove that's out on July 25th, or available at the anniversary shows. The tracklisting... disc 1:The compilation is limited to a mere 6,000 copies, and pre-orders have already started over at the Suicide Squeeze site. For more info, songs, and videos from current Suicide Squeeze artists (include Minus the Bear, the Aislers Set, and personal faves Metal Hearts), hit up their MySpace page. And if you make it to any of the three shows this weekend, feel my envy. |
