We interrupt your irregularly scheduled musical randomness to introduce you to a tiny new human... Our son, Brendan Elliott Searles, was born last night at 10:06pm, weighing in at 5 pounds, 5 ounces, and healthy as can be. It was after a long day that started at 2am and ended 20 hours later with a c-section, and Amie was amazing. For those in the know, yeah, he was almost a month early. He needs to get some things done, apparently... I think he may have overheard that the Low / Wilco show was this week. He's totally going to make me change the name of this place to "Brendan's Almanac". Just you wait. I leave you with an absolutely beautiful song written by Low's Alan Sparhawk, performed with his wife and bandmate Mimi Parker, after the birth of their first little one, Hollis Mae. It comes from a split 7" with Charles Atlas, released in 2000 on Star Star Stereo... That song has always made any trace of cynicism in my brain evaporate, and that was before my newfound fatherhood. Sigh. Time to go hold our boy... |
