If you've been reading the 'Nac for any length of time, you know that the Muses own space in a warm little corner of my heart, so I'll spare you any maudlin reflections and get to the songs. First up: The 6pm show, with Tanya and Kristin's first solo sets of the day, along with their first collaborative set. Next Monday I'll be sharing the entire 9PM second show.
And writing out this next bit might make it seem more real: This Friday I'll be a humble fly on the studio wall when Kristin Hersh and Throwing Muses drummer David Narcizo get together to record a few songs. I'll have my laptop with me and will be, barring any schedule changes or technical difficulties, liveblogging the afternoon, with words, photos, maybe even a little audio and video. Hopefully I'll just grab a seat, get the heck outta their way, and be able to share this rare experience with fellow fans.
So, yes, it's a Muses-heavy week here on the 'Nac. Enjoy this first fix, and come back Friday and next Monday for much more...
Additional Audio: Be sure to check out the CASHmusic site, where Kristin is releasing her latest material, song-by-song, as pay-what-you-will downloads, and hit up the freemusic page at Throwing Music for some KH, TM, and 50 Foot Wave tracks. Tanya has also shared some free music, in the form of the original demo recordings of songs that later became Belly's "Star" album.
the fine print... If anyone has an issue with these Mp3s being made available, just let me know (my contact info in the 'nac faq). Live sets recorded with a Sony ECM-719 mic and a Sony MZ-RH10 minidisc, converted to .wav and then edited to 192kbps Mp3s. Files are made available for a limited time, and are not reposted once removed.
