Back to Burlington...
Time for another trip north, from Boston to Burlington, Vermont. And of course, the weather in Boston is sunny and 50, while in Burlington it's 20s and snow. Joy. Here's hoping the interstate stays clear for most of the trip. Not much time for an update, so I'll rattle off a some links I've collected over the past few days, and be back with a (hopefully) bigger update over the weekend. I know you're just dying for it, aren't you. Yup. Visual Stimulation... Pictures of the Year International Some jaw-dropping photography on display in this 'Best of 2001' collection. Be forewarned, though... some of it is brutally honest, and sadly stunning. I'll take one, please... Ananova: Virtual keyboard unveiled at world computer show Doesn't get much more futuristic than this, really...  The next logical step after that is projected monitors... bring it on... Paging Dr. Zaius... Implant Enables Thought to Control Computer Cursor Speaking of the futuristic, here's another slice of fascinating news. Three monkeys were implanted with electrodes that allowed them to control a computer cursor with their minds. Uhhh... can I have my flying car now? Neglected for far too long... Daypop I'd heard about this, and even visited once, but Amie reminded me how damn cool Daypop is. It's a Current Events / Weblog / News search engine, and it somehow gathers the 'most posted' links from people's blogs, then lists them in a 'top 40'. Same for new stories. It's an excellent resource that might have to go in my 'frequent visits' folder. "Galileo really knew how to party!" Triumph - The Insult Comic Dog at Westminster Oh, man. Triumph goes to the Westminster Dog Show. And he didn't get kicked out this time. My stomach hurts from laugh suppression. Thanks, Killian. Attention Carson: Crisco Community -- Message Board Not for our 'more sensitive' readers. Someone posted this amusing, if nasty, message to the Crisco message board. The folks at Crisco promptly deleted the link to the message, but not the message itself. Check out the reply down below. Perfect. On the Sneaky Side... Morpheus Hits a New Low I was just talking about how bad the file selection on Morpheus had become since they released their latest version... and now I read this. They secretly installed code on your computer that redirects your web browser through sales tracking sites when you surf. Nice going, you devious fools. Hellboy's Helmer Himself... Slush Factory: Mike Mignola Interview One of my favorite comic author/artists in an extensive interview at Slush Factory. If you haven't heard of Hellboy, you will. Mark my words, you will.
