Justification Is Costly...
I have been doing my part to trigger some sort of U.S. economic comeback over the past few days, spending cash and credit like it was water (Brita, naturally). I've had a zero balance on my credit card for years... hell, I didn't even know where the thing was when I needed it to rent a van for the band recently. But I decided to break it out and put a little bit on there, make some payments, get the credit history flowing again. From what I've heard, when buying a house (which Amie and I are going to start looking into next year... eek.), it's may actually be better to have a bit of debt that you're successfully paying off than it is to have no debt at all. Even if that's not true, it's as good a reason as any to throw the new 20gb Archos Mp3 Player/Recorder on plastic. It's on the way from Buy.com.

Faster, Faster, Copycat...
Since it's got USB 2.0 capability (supposedly up to 40 times faster than standard USB), I also bought a new 2.0 card for my pc, which works like a charm after a bit of a struggle with drivers and such. Add to that a new external USB 2.0 hard drive converter, in which I put an extra hard drive I had laying around, and I've got more mp3 space than I'll ever need. The conversion of my collection is nearly complete, and my new personal music revolution begins shortly.

Just Sign Right Here Please...
The debit card is burning as well from recent purchases of the Mullholland Drive DVD, and just-released cds from Consonant (Clint from Mission of Burma, Matt Kadane from Bedhead/The New Year, Winston Bramen from Fuzzy, and Chris Brokaw from Come/The New Year/lots more) and the Gloria Record. Fine acquisitions, all. The Gloria Record is hitting me just right in the headphones at the moment.

Seams Old Times...
It's a good week for goings-on. Particularly the Ted Leo show tomorrow night at TTs. Ted never disappoints live. The fact that one of the openers, ee, includes Sooyoung from Seam, one of my all-time favorite bands, ensures the night will be a memorable one.

Movie See, Monkey Do...
Tonight Amie, Mike, and I take in a free screening of the new Charlie Kaufman (he of 'Being John Malkovich') flick Human Nature. The reviews on this sucker range from 'subversive comic genius', to 'piece of shambolic nonsense'. I'm up for either, really. Hey, if you happen to be reading this, and want our extra free ticket, drop me an email. It's at the Kendall at 7:30 tonight. Tim Robbins as a might-be-mad scientist, Patricia Arquette as his fur-covered nurse, and Rhys Ifans as some sort of freakish monkey-man. Hmmmm.

A Boston Bloggin' Bash...
I couldn't have planned this better if I had organized it myself: The kind souls behind the 2002 Boston Bloggers Party have not only chosen one of my favorite settings for their gathering (608, formerly Lillis), but they've arranged for attendees to get free admission to that night's Neil Halsted show. Hot diggity. If you're in the Boston area, and have a blog, head over there and rsvp.
