One of my favorite fantasy series is getting a companion on the shelves. Next month, Philip Pullman releases "
Lyra's Oxford", a hardbound short story accompanied by woodcut illustrations. It will add even more depth to the world he created in the "
His Dark Materials" trilogy.
Don't be offput by the "Young Readers" and "Juvenile Fiction" categories that the publisher has placed these books in... they're for anyone and everyone (think Harry Potter, but much, much better). People I know who've read them have loved them, to the point of obsession in many cases. Guaranteed to make your favorites list, just as they did mine.
I'm so, so glad we're getting a new fix, even if it will be a short one. Here's hoping Pullman is working on his next epic.
