Time for yet another set addition to my cassette-to-mp3 conversion of the 1992 Sub Pop Vermonstress Fest. Twenty bands over a couple of beautiful Burlington, Vermont fall days. One of those bands was Boston's Drop Nineteens.
I was already obsessed with the Drop Nineteen's album "Delaware" when they pulled into town that weekend and blew me away with a messy, cathartic live set. I absolutely loved the live amped-up version of "My Aquarium", was psyched to hear a non-album song, and fell into instant-crush with Paula Kelley. The band was pretty standoffish, but they rocked me enough to make up for the uncomfortable vibe they were projecting. So here's their eight song set. Don't worry, the mix gets better as it goes along. The screaming on "Reberrymemberer" was something to behold. Damn, I loved this band. |
