This week it's the late, great Unwound with the best recorded song they didn't actually write. "Torch Song" comes from a split single with the much-missed Versus, on which they both do a Flower cover (Richard Balyut's pre-Versus band).
The Versus song is a keeper, too, so get on over to the Troubleman Unlimited site and grab some better-sounding wax (you've still got a record player, don't you?). P.S. How did I not know about TeenBeat Records' Mailing List Archive page? And I quote : "Each week (or two) this space will contain a TeenBeat rarity, cover song, live track, or file relating to the music of the TeenBeat label. Please support the works of the artists by purchasing through TeenBeat or by clicking here." I already missed a live version of Versus' "Forest Fire" (dang!), but I shall miss no more. P.S.S. Chrome Waves is a damn fine looking site, and Toronto-based Frank seems to have excellent taste, a timely blog, and free mp3s as well. This week, Bedhead's cover of Joy Division's "Disorder". (Honestly, any site named after a Ride song is already a cut above). Nice to make your acquaintance, Frank. Labels: livemp3s |
