The guys at music-activism site Downhill Battle are again backing up their words with action by organizing today's Grey Tuesday, an online act of civil disobedience taking aim at EMI's attempt to stop the distribution of DJ Danger Mouse's Grey Album, a brilliant blending of the Beatles' White Album and Jay-Z's Black Album.
All the details are here, along with a list of sites where you can download the tracks today. EMI has already sent cease & desist letters to the brave souls on the list, including the Downhill Battle crew. Check out the letter here. Despite these letters, most of the sites are hanging in there, daring EMI to take the next legal step. Of course, the more EMI fights this, the more attention the protest gets, the more people will check out the album. Nice work, men in suits. |
