For those without Tivo, last night may have made for a tough choice between late-night talk-show musical performances. At the very moment that Billy Bragg was playing his sorrowful "Tank Park Salute" over on Craig Ferguson, Peter Bjorn & John (with help from former Concretes vocalist Victoria Bergsman) were making their stateside television debut with the irresistible "Young Folks" on Conan O'Brien.
But for those of us with Tivo, it made for a swell way to wake up and start the day. For now, here's the audio, and I have no doubt the YouTube action will show up at some point (update: and here's the PB&J video)...
Mp3: Peter Bjorn & John - "Young Folks" (live on Conan O'Brien)Billy's song, which has always been one of my personal faves, was written after the death of his father, and performed especially for Ferguson to mark the one-year anniversary of his own dad's passing.
PB&J's Conan appearance, which was recorded yesterday afternoon, came in the midst of a (justified) music-blog frenzy caused by their first stateside shows since the release of the excellent "Writer's Block" album last year. Sound Bites and BrooklynVegan have the evidence.
